Hi my name is Alexandra McMaster, professional Dancer and avid foodie.
As I've grown up I've realised being a dancer, or should I say athlete is no easy task and the importance of our diets is key for us to learn, grow and improve.
I began to understand this when I moved to Brisbane to pursue my pre-professional training and I was exposed to way of living that was very health focused. Here I started to explored eating predominantly a wholefood unprocessed diet and where my passion for this way of eating/ living arose.
I created an Instagram named 'Ballerina Bites' mid way through 2013 to mainly focus on the term the 'Whole Food Lifestyle'. I did this because I wanted to rid my body from all process foods and start living on the freshest of ingredients at their whole or original state. So far 'Ballerina Bites' has made me respect food and has taught me the importance of giving my body the opportunity of receiving nutrients. By living by the 'Whole Food Lifestyle' I am able to obtain an abundance of energy and enthusiasm throughout a full day of dancing.
Ballerina Bites is my side interest. It enables me to think about things other then Ballet. All dancers and athletes in general have to have another interest so they don't become consumed. Other interests are a great way to clear the head and start each day fresher than the last.
Food is my interest because I find it therapeutic. I enjoy being in the kitchen and mixing a bowl of goodness. I also love the fact of creating goodies that I can share with friends and family and seeing their faces when I tell them that it is actually healthy!
Alex, Ballerina Bites. xx
